Works good, but I have a chemical burn. Review by aeromcgee

I bought mine yesterday at Bed Bath & Beyond for $14.95. I got it home last night and washed in warm water as the container specified. This morning, I got up, ran it under cool water, and went out to mow. I had it draped around my neck, no shirt on. It felt really nice. Then I used it to wipe down my face. That's when I began feeling a slight burn. After about 30 mins, I came back in. I took it off to re-wet it and my wife noticed that I had a bright red glow around my neck, down my shoulders onto my chest. Also, my face was burning as if I was sun burnt. I am having this reaction everywhere that the Chilly Pad touched my skin.

I have since wiped myself down with aloe. I will try washing the Chilly Pad with a gentle detergent before I use it again. (Posted on 9/2/13)

I am 62 years old and was born without sweat glands. Your product really came through in keeping my head cool while outside in the heat. Wish I had a whole suit made out of the material. Works great. (Posted on 8/27/13)
Don't get a hot head! Review by A. Jackson

This is my first review and I couldn't wait to tell you all about Chilly Pads! I was planning a trip to DC over July 4th weekend and I wanted to find a cooling towel to keep me from fainting in front of the Capitol from the hot, humid DC weather. So after searching for other towels that you snap (won't name names), I found Frogg Toggs Chilly Pads on Amazon in violet and khaki...they have other colors. I was able to purchase a pink one for me and a khaki towel for my boyfriend for $12.95/each.
As soon as they arrived, I popped one open (it comes in a cool container). All I can say is I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Chilly Pad! It arrives pre-moistened (directions say to store it while it's still moist) and it has a very pleasant smell to it...kind of like amaretto or Cherry Blossom lotion. It cools you right away. And the best part is that it even cools down your body temperature because you still feel cool for awhile even after using it. And it's large enough (13 x 33) to wrap around your shoulders and arms. But it folds easily to fit in your purse...although it's moist, it doesn't cause any water damage.
I highly recommend this product to anyone who deals with heat at all. Use it to cool down at night before going to bed, at your desk, indoors, outdoors, wherever! (Posted on 7/11/13)
Chilly Pad is the Coolest Thing Ever Review by K. Harker "K"

I have tried product after product to stay cool in the searing heat of Indian Wells near Palm Springs as I watch tennis there. All were dismal failures until I came across the Chilly Pad. The first one was so impressive, that I bought two more. Put one over my head, one across my knees, and one on my arm. I felt like I was in a 75 degree room in 100 degree weather. Just keep a water bottle handy, or refill your drink cup with water to rehydrate when they dry, then twist to distribute. Fabulous. I bought 10 more for my family members to use when we go to hot football games. They all begged to use mine. If I could give it 6 stars, I would! Any Mom who needs to sit out in the heat watching her kids play ball would love this. (Posted on 7/11/13)
Works better than I expected Review by Mark A. Solinski

I work in Scottsdale, AZ and spend a lot of time with my son in the Midwest watching his baseball games.

In Scottsdale, the high temperatures combined with the low humidity, make this an excellent product. The evaporative effect of the product makes wearing it around the neck or, on occasion, upon the head very comfortable; it actually feels cold sometimes. Since I walk to and from work, about 1.5 miles, this product is now irreplaceable. The only problem with using it in the low humidity of Scottsdale is that it does dry out after about 1 hour and I have to find other places to wet it again.

Using it in the Midwest (watching baseball games) was a little different. Most of the venues where I went also had high temperatures, although not as high as Scottsdale, and very high humidity. As a consequence, the product did not perform as well as in Scottsdale. However, it did perform better than any "wet towel" that I used in the past. In these venues, I found that the towel was just big enough to tie around my head to make a cap. This was better than any floppy or baseball cap and made me comfortable throughout the game. I also, sometimes, sit in areas which are imperfectly shaded and have found the towel great for covering an arm or legs which are exposed to the sun. In these climates, I find that the towel "works" for about 2-3 hours before needing to be "recharged" with more water.

I do like the product and have bought additional towels for each of my family members. (Posted on 7/11/13)

Product was a great color but it didn't get as cold as I expected. But overall, my kids like it and it doesn't make a mess in my bag. (Posted on 7/11/13)
These things are legit! Review by R. Harris

I was skeptical that the Chilly Pad would actually deliver as promised, but believe it or not, it does. Using the product is easy: take it out, get it wet, and enjoy the coolness. A few comments:
1 - When you are done with it, try and lay it somewhere flat and let it COMPLETELY DRY. If you put it back in the plastic case, you will find it gets moldy. I believe these can be machine washed, which should fix the problem, but why even bother with this? Just wring it out, and lay it flat to dry. The pad will be completely dry (and hard) within 8-12 hours. Then you can literally fold it up for storage and later use.
2 - The chilly pad works well but it does have one nagging issue (why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5): when you wear it around your neck, the water in the pad tends to migrate down to the ends, leaving the spot right on your neck less wet (and therefore cool) than the ends. A workaround is to wrap the towel so the ends are up on your neck, too.
I've found that moving it around helps this problem. I've gotten nearly an hour of cooling with one of these in 90+ degree weather, without having to get it wet again.

All in all, a decent product for the price. (Posted on 7/11/13)
Works Review by Traci

We own a business where our employees are outside in over 110 degree whether for several months during the summer. They go through buckets of ice and have even suffered heat stroke in the past. I am always looking for a product they can use to help keep them cool. I purchased a Chilly Pad after reading some impressive reviews. I used the Chilly Pad while pulling weeds in the yard and mowing . It worked great! The directions say rinse the CHilly Pad in warm water, then run under cold water and wring slightly. The material is very "chamWOW-like", but once it is put around your neck you almost forget it is there. I worked in the yard for a couple hours and other than repositioning it occasionally, the it kept me cool. No, it isn't an air conditioner and you still are going to sweat, but the difference in my ability to stay outside was amazing. I liked the chilly pad so much, I ordered three more for our employees. The only downside I have found is the CP could be a tad longer, but other than that, I would highly recommend this product! One tip - if you are going to need the CP for several hours, keep a bowl or small cooler of ice water around. As the CP starts to dry out, simply place it in the cold water and wring - it feels AMAZING! (Posted on 7/11/13)
Great for a hot day! Review by Niki

ordered several of these for our family vacation to Disney World to keep us cool in the Florida heat. The product works exactly as advertised. Just get it wet, wring it out and put it to use, stays cool for hours. I must say that the product did have a sort of chemical smell fresh out of the packaging so I would recommend washing before use. All in all a great product but one weird thing was that it was actually larger than the measurements advertised so I cut them in half and they are still plenty big enough to serve their purpose. Question:

How do I store this for winter, when I don't use it.

Answers:

  • Posted by Frogg Toggs® on Monday, October 14, 2013

Best storage would be to machine wash and allow to air dry. Put back into the container or in a zip lock bag (completely dry). and you can store it anywhere you would like. The key is for it to be completely before putting into a storage container.
